We Got It Wrong — Here's How We're Fixing It
We Got It Wrong — Here's How We're Fixing It
I want to be direct with you about something.
When we originally launched the GrimDelve, we used "Shadowdark" in the product name without explicit written permission from Arcane Library. We assumed that because the game was third-party compatible, using the game's name in our product name was fair. It's not — and we should have known better.
Kelsey Dionne and the Arcane Library team reached out. They were gracious about it, but clear: we can't use the game's trademark in our product name without a licensing agreement we don't have.
What We're Doing
We're renaming the VTT to GrimDelve. The name fits the vibe — dark dungeons, torchlight, danger — and it's fully ours.
What This Doesn't Change
Nothing about the VTT itself changes. GrimDelve is still built specifically for Shadowdark RPG play — all the rules references, the light tracker, the crawl turn counter, the mishap tables. It's the same tool with a new name.
The Shadowdark RPG itself is unchanged. Kelsey's game is one of the best dungeon-crawl systems out there and we're proud to support it.
What's Already Updated - Product name is now GrimDelve everywhere on the site - The VTT URL has been updated - In-app branding reflects the new name
